My Bio
Sun Queen writes poetry for her activism.
Sun Queen is a student of the universe and life’s elements. She is one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter New Haven. Sun has been in the helping profession for over 10 years. Committed to advocacy and inspiring people has always been a passion for Sun. Her passion and love for advocating grew extensively after the traumatic loss of her brother a 2012 New Haven homicide victim whose case has not been solved to date. Sun has provided helping services with an array of professional titles; she is an artist and inspirational messenger. Sun’s artistry reflects life through her lenses which sparked her third eye to awaken. She vowed to cultivate her being by presenting in her organic and authentic self. Through advocating and guidance, she has helped people, who didn’t think it was possible to elevate and understand life’s journey by sharing her narrative and appreciating her struggle.
Sun Queen is one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter New Haven established in 2015. BLM New Haven’s mission is to demonstrate integrity by educating individuals of all ages while helping increase their knowledge of Laws and their individual rights. BLM New Haven’s goals are solely to inspire and empower the community through Advocacy, Education, and community service, to create long-lasting solutions to social problems. We envision reforming our community, emphasizing on accountability, discovering new knowledge, and sharing our resources with the community. Doing so will allow BLMH to recognize the strength of our community, encourage education and inclusion on community matters to promote change and growth.
Sun Queen strives daily to expand community services and offerings to the New Haven community in which she was born and raised and lives until this present day. For the past couple of years, Sun Queen has organized Back to School Drives in which several dozens of backpacks and school supplies to families that may be in a financial bind or families truly in need and a Homeless initiative which provides toiletry care packages to homeless residents of New Haven. Sun Queen is a student of the universe and life’s elements.
Her passion and love for advocating grew extensively after the traumatic loss of her brother who is a 2012 New Haven homicide victim whose case has still not been solved to date. Sun has provided helping services with an array of professional titles. She has in a host of events within her community which has allowed her to volunteer, including but not limited to; community marches, rallies, and even fundraising campaigns geared at empowering and educating the young and older community of their rights using nonviolent principles.
Sun is a poet, an artist, and an inspirational messenger. Daily you can find Sun on social media and in real life being nothing but pure and true to her authentic self. Sun Queen is writing and self-publishing a book of poetry. Many have described her work as “beautifully capturing with divine insight.” Through her passion and love for advocacy and guidance, she plans to help others be able to share their stories.
Overall, Sun Queen’s vision is to create a safe and vibrant space that will bring truth to power; allow her the roots to the problem we as individuals may use as nourishment in our lives to manifest our freedom. Sun’s goal is to create a space where Women of Color will able to build confidence; all while focusing on personal wellness maintenance. Her wishes for the people in her community are to have individuals be open to healing and the understanding of trauma and self-love. She feels as if this will be a step towards liberation and becoming intimate with your true infinite self. Sun believes that with togetherness a strong community support system can definitely
